Nightline is a story / fanfiction based on the otome game Love and Deepspace , reimagined as a 1997 AU that takes place in 1997. The framework of the original has been stripped back in favor of something more grounded and human: noir-leaning, underground nightlife, and the danger of getting too close to the wrong people.
The AU functions as its own noir romance story first, with the canon characters forming the backbone of it in various roles. Knowing the original game story / lore is not required to follow the plot or understand references. In fact, I would even encourage people who only have a basic understanding of the original source to read it if they are interested in the genre or plot of the story.
Summary: It’s 1997 in a city that still runs on landlines, cash, and the kind of secrets that survive the night. Xavier, a former detective turned private investigator, has spent years chasing a pattern that never quite hardens into proof. Somewhere inside that same city, Sylus—better known as Skye—keeps his world of neon-lit clubs, quiet fronts, and unspoken rules running without drawing attention. Zayne works nights on a sex line, keeping his real life safely contained behind routine, scripts, and the distance of the phone. Then one caller keeps coming back, and what begins as a job starts pulling him toward something far more dangerous than he realizes.
